RIDE SHRE FOR THE BLIND
Accessible rideshare for the blind, low-vision, and disability community
Florida Vision Alliance provides an accessible rideshare service designed for people who are blind, have low vision, or live with other disabilities. Our focus is simple: safe, respectful, door-to-door transportation that supports independence at work, school, healthcare visits, and daily life.
What makes our rideshare accessible
• Trained drivers who assist with pick-up, boarding, and drop-off.
• Clear communication: phone, text, or voice options; driver waits at known landmarks.
• ADA-minded practices including guidance to/from the vehicle and assistance with small items.
• Safety first: confirmations, ride tracking, and feedback after each trip.
Designed for blind and low-vision riders
Our accessible rideshare program removes common barriers—like locating vehicles or navigating crowded pick-up points. Drivers are trained to offer verbal orientation, describe surroundings, and coordinate precise drop-off locations.
For broader disability needs
We serve riders with mobility, hearing, or cognitive disabilities as well. Options include extra time for boarding, communication preferences, and coordination with caregivers or support staff.
When you can use FVA RideShare
Medical appointments, employment and training, school and campus activities, grocery and pharmacy runs, community events, social visits, and more. If it matters to you, we’ll help you get there.
How it works
1. Request a ride in advance.
2. Get matched with a trained driver.
3. Door-to-door assistance from pick-up to drop-off.
4. Share feedback so we keep improving accessibility.
Why choose FVA
We are a nonprofit focused on accessibility, not surge pricing. Every ride supports our mission to expand independence for the blind, low-vision, and disability community.
